The New Home for Nursing
As our community seeks to ensure access to healthcare for people of all ages, we are also faced with the greatest need for exceptional nurses. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has a mission and responsibility to serve the greater Chattanooga community.
As Chattanooga’s regional educational center for nurses and advanced practice registered nurses, UTC School of Nursing meets an urgent need throughout our region.
The only thing holding us back from producing even more talented nurses is simply space.
From the day the doors open, the new Dorothy and Jim Kennedy Health Sciences Building will be a hub for healthcare innovation and nursing education for our entire community and allow UTC to produce a steady pipeline of nursing graduates to help meet our regional workforce needs.
The future home of the UTC School of Nursing, the Dorothy and Jim Kennedy Health Sciences Building is slated to begin construction in the fall of 2024 and open its doors in 2026.
With a generous gift of $8 million from the Kennedy Foundation, Inc. the single largest gift to the UTC School of Nursing, the Dorothy and Jim Kennedy Health Sciences Building is named after the parents of the current Kennedy Foundation trustees and will be the first building at UTC to be named after an alumna.
The Dorothy and Jim Kennedy Health Sciences Building has an approximately $80 million cost that will be funded through a combination of donations and state resources with a building campaign goal of $21 million.
With the gracious support of the Kennedy Foundation and other donors, we are on our way to the $21 million dollar goal. Yet, we still need your support to help us get there and support future nurses in our community. With your support, we will transform and define the future of nursing education and clinical care.
We can empower nurse leaders who will make critical decisions and save lives. But to do this, we need you.
