For Destiny McClendon (’25), the athletics scholarship was an opportunity for her to succeed. Making the Dean’s List and Athletics Director’s Honor Roll, Destiny played in all 30 games in her rookie campaign. Shooting over 36% from the field and second on the team for 3-pointers made, Destiny currently maintains an A average, was the recipient of the 2021 Georgia Youth of the Year award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and studies communication.

“I am so thankful to receive an athletics scholarship from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Having a scholarship put me in an environment that has given me the tools and opportunities to succeed in the classroom, on the court and in life. I am so grateful for my scholarship, and the amazing possibilities that UTC has to offer.”

At UTC, our student-athletes are striving for comprehensive excellence – success in the classroom, in competition and in our community. The most critical need to help them achieve this goal is scholarship support. Of our 15 varsity programs, only 3 (Football, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball) are fully-funded and able to offer a full complement of scholarships. Due to the scholarship limitations we face, we are often unable to provide our student-athletes with the full support they need to be successful at UTC.

There is no more significant impact you can make than the gift of education. There are three ways you can support the educational needs of our student-athletes:

Your annual support through the Mocs Club at any level helps to fund scholarships for all our student-athletes.

The opportunity to continue advancing toward a degree, while remaining in Chattanooga to receive the support of the athletic department is critical to the success of our student-athletes, but we are unable to accommodate all who wish to take advantage of this opportunity. You can make a gift to provide tuition, housing and meal support during summer school.

Endowing a scholarship provides immediate educational support, while also creating long-term sustainability for our athletic programs by generating scholarship support in perpetuity. Endowed scholarships can be designated to the sport of your choice, and will be matched to student-athlete each year.
