A bequest from a will or living trust lets you make a gift of any size to the University of Chattanooga Foundation free of estate tax. Your attorney can help you include language to the UC Foundation in your estate plan. The UC Foundation exists as a repository for gifts aimed at benefiting the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. We have provided some basic bequest language to assist you below.

I hereby, give, devise and bequeath ($DOLLARS or PERCENTAGE OF ESTATE) to the University of Chattanooga Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization (Federal Tax ID #62-0476521).

In addition to a bequest, there are many other ways to include UTC in your estate plans. Learn more about our Legacy Society that recognizes donors who have made provisions to support UTC in their gift planning through avenues like bequests, charitable remainder trust, charitable gift annuity, retirement assets, life insurance and more.

Contact Erica Siemers at erica-siemers@utc.edu or 423-425-4061 for any planned giving questions or assistance.

Make a difference today and save on taxes! You can support UTC through your IRA.

In addition to simply listing UTC as a beneficiary of an IRA, individuals 70 ½ and older can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from their IRA directly to a qualified charity such as UTC without having to pay income taxes on the money, otherwise known as an IRA charitable rollover or QCD. Additionally, once you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD) with no income taxes on the gift.
